The lighthouse at Formentor, Mallorca

The background shows sidewalk tiles - "rajoles" - that pave the sidewalks throughout Barcelona. They were designed by architect Puig i Cadafalch for the entryway of a home. Since 1915, they have been used by the city to pave sidewalks, and have become emblematic of the city. One of the city's most famous chocolatiers, Enric Rovira, produces chocolate bars in the shape and design of these tiles.

May Zone Conferences

It has been a busy week. Following zone conference in Palma and Barcelona, we drove south for zone conferences and interviews and spent five days traveling, but it was a great week meeting with wonderful missionaries! Zone conferences began in Palma and Barcelona before we headed down to Murcia, then up to Valencia.

    I served my mission in Barcelona from 1994-1996 (Valencia, Elche, and Rama 3 in Barc). Just wanted to say how much I enjoy reading this blog and catching up on mission news. Brings back a lot of memories. My husband and I visited Barcelona a few years ago--it was great to show him all the sites and visit the rama, which is now un barrio grande! I will forever love Spain and I think about those wonderful Spaniards often.

    Incidentally, I know you son, Spencer. My husband, Justin, worked with him at Jacob Lake and we even went to Spencer's mission farewell in SLC back in '97. Small world! --Wendy Hill
